OPERATING PRINCIPLE
LPR measurement: relies on the measuremet of the electrical resistance of the corroding electrode-electrolyte interface. The polarization resistance is measured as the ratio of the applied DC potential to the flowing current and is constant over a small range (<20mV).
ER measurement: relies on the dyrect measuremet of the electrical resistance of a probe that employs a sensing element made from wire, strip or tube of the same metal as the pipeline, vessel or structure to be monitored. As corrosion occurs, the cross-sectional area of the sensing element decreases and its electric resistance increases according to Ohm’s law.
The mULTIMATE 41 performs a convergent autorange algorithm that can found quickly the best scale of measure.
A single mULTIMATE 41 can be used to measure an unlimited number of probes installed at different locations of a system or systems: Each Probe can be distinguished by a unique TAG number and measures are memorised in a non-volatile memory.
The mULTIMATE 41 is simple to operate: just set TAG number push the Measure key: the instrument will give a corrosion rate reading and automatically memorises data; can collect data from Field Unit’s; can upload setting to Field Unit’s, or can up-load data to Terminal PC acting as a portable datalogger.
